"Public Speaking was a fear I didn't know I had until I attempted to do it. Once I realized it, I took action, and joined Toastmasters for several years. For one year, I even became the club's President. However, while Toastmasters was great for learning the technical requirements of public speaking, it did nothing to alleviate the true source of my condition - the anxiety.
One day, while scrolling through Instagram, I saw a short clip of Jeremy presenting a perspective on public speaking I had never heard before. He spoke about the psychology of speaking, and how past trauma could be tied to your present-day fears. He used terms like anxiety, and imposter syndrome - words I knew all too well. This had never been mentioned in Toastmasters, and it made too much sense not to reach out.
Prior to Jeremy, I had accepted opportunities to speak, and to this day, I'm not really sure how I survived. My nerves were completely visible to the audience, and my message was diluted by my focus on survival, rather than providing value. After only a couple of sessions with Jeremy, for the first time in my life, I finally experienced what it was like to present without that cloud of anxiety. I was able to speak passionately, and deliver a message that I'm told, made a lasting impact.
It's easy to avoid public speaking, but 'easy' is not the road to opportunity. I would not have made huge strides in my career if I had stayed within the limits of my comfort zone. To put it plainly, Jeremy has become a valuable resource in helping me navigate one of my biggest obstacles - myself!"
